Apostle Eric Nyamekye Urges Church Leaders to Build the Church to Impact society.
The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) and Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on church leaders to remain clear about the purpose and goal of the church, urging them to build strong foundations that will impact generations to come.
Speaking at the All Ministers Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Apostle Nyamekye emphasized that the church must be built according to the biblical pattern established by God. Drawing inspiration from Exodus 25:9, 40, he reminded leaders of God’s instruction to Moses to construct the tabernacle exactly as shown to him. “The tabernacle is the antitype of the church. In the same way, the church must be built carefully, with a clear goal and process,” he said.
Apostle Nyamekye warned that revivals and events alone do not build strong churches. Instead, churches must adopt systematic processes, quality teaching, and intentional discipleship that produce lasting growth. He highlighted the need for structural integrity in ministry, referencing Nehemiah 4:3 to stress that churches must be resilient against storms and challenges.
“We need to build churches that are strong, that can stand the test of time, and that will impact society positively. What we are building is not for today only—it is for tomorrow, for the succeeding generation,” he pointed.
Spiritual Authority
He stressed that the goal of the church is not just to release people for works of service, but ultimately to help believers attain the full measure of Christ. Quoting Ephesians 4:12–13 and Romans 8:29, Apostle Nyamekye explained: “Our mission is to conform God’s people into the image of His Son. A church that bears the image of Christ reflects His moral beauty, exercises authority over darkness, and transforms society.”
Cautioning against self-aggrandizement and misuse of spiritual authority, he urged leaders not to build for personal glory but for God’s purpose and the sustainability of the next generation. “Some of us are so expansive in power. But your bigness is in the eyes of the people, not in your titles. It is God who lifts,” he said.
The All Ministers Conference brought together thousands of ministers across denominations to deepen fellowship, share insights, and strengthen the unity of the body of Christ in Ghana.
